Size: 35cm x 30cm/13.7" x 11.8"
This unusual piece La Reve - the dream - uses two primary colors with white highlights to sensational effect. Below a cloudy, starry blue sky lies a yellowy village at rest. At the foreground is a sleeping woman; above her, three scaled fish float through the sky. This is a magnificent, evocative piece that would make an outstanding addition to your home.
Samy Briss was born to a Jewish family in Romania in 1930, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest before traversing Europe and settling in Israel in 1960. He now lives and works in Paris, painting fabulous and unusual pieces which are surrealist and neo-primitive in style, and nostalgic and symbolic to look at. His work has been displayed across the world in Israel, the USA, and in major European countries including Belgium, Holland, Germany, France and Switzerland.
