Nine year old Schlomo (played as a young boy by Moshe Agazai, as a teenage boy by Moshe Abebe, and as an adult man by Sirak M. Sabahat) is sent away by his Ethiopian Christian mother from their refugee camp in Sudan to be passed as an Ethiopian Jew and so in turn to be evacuated to Israel with other Ethiopian Jews during Operation Moses, in order for him to have a better life. Throughout the years he yearns for his birth mother and lives in fear of being exposed as a non-Jew.
