The Hebrew inscription decorating this Jewish amulet reads: Tsmarcad Kuz, a combination of the last letters of the verses of Genesis 1:1-5, and the beginning of the Divine Name in an alphabetic code. The reverse bears the inscription: God the Almighty, Moses son of Judah, born on the Sabbath Day, 25 Tishri, year 5613 (1852). May God's will be done.
