"House Blessing" Tiles. North Africa 19th-20th Century. Ceramic

Size of each tile: 4.3" x 4.3" / 11 x 11 cm

Reinforced plaster

At the center of these four ceramic tiles is the Biblical inscription, "Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out." (Deuteronomy 28:6).  Decorated with geometric and foliate patterns, each replica was cast from a mold of the original tile and hand painted.

This item comes with a certificate of authenticity of the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Enclosed is a small description of its historical background in English and Hebrew.
