This outstanding collection has been released in honor of the centennial celebration of the founding of Kibbutz Degania and the Kibbutz Movement as a whole. Despite never containing more than a tiny percentage of Israel's population, the members kibbutzim have been vastly over-represented in many fields of activity, including politics, army, and culture.
Gathered here are 70 timeless songs, each one connected to the Kibbutz movement, thematically, through the performer, or the songwriter (and often all three). Among the performers you will hear Israel's cream of the crop, including Arik Einstein, Chava Alberstein, Ilanit, Gevatron, Shalom Hanoch, the Nahal Band, Arik Lavie, Hanan Yovel, Yaffa Yarkoni, and Ofra Haza.
Each of the three CDs comes with its own deluxe booklet (in Hebrew only) containing the lyrics to all the songs as well as background information, stories, and photographs.
