The bell very well might have belonged to an individual of high status; perhaps even the High Priest, as the Bible states: "They made bells of pure gold.. on the hem of the robe all around" (Ex. 39:25). The bell was found at the foot of the Temple Mount, in a water channel that runs beneath the Herodian Road, which ascends from the Shiloah Pool to the Western Wall.
