Description

Diameter: 12" / 30 cm

This plate was inspired by a pewter plate.

Pewter Passover plates are usually large in size and decorated with motifs relating to the festival, the seder and the Haggadah. In this example the engraved line is a precise replication of the folk embroidery stitching found in Jewish crafts in 18th century Southern Germany. In many Passover Haggadah illustrations, Pithom and Ramses are depicted as European cities with towers.

On the rim of the plate appears a Hebrew inscription in ornately decorated script.

For an additional $59.00 you can add the seven matching porcelain dishes.

This item comes with a certificate of authenticity of the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Enclosed is a small description of its historical background in English and Hebrew.
