Limited edition lithograph; Signed and numbered on plate
Size: 46cm x 31cm / 18.1" x 12.2"
This lithograph features rich tones across a muted background, depicting iconic Jerusalem views in beautiful color and Gutman's unmistakable style. Vibrant trees sit around sculpted walls and buildings, including the Russian Orthodox Church, Tower of David and the Dome of the Rock. It will make an interesting and unique multicultural addition to your home.
Nahum Gutman was born in Romania and immigrated to Israel in 1905, where he began studying art at Bezalel in Jerusalem. He soon rebelled against the traditional teaching methods, and ploughed ahead alone to create his own distinctive style. His art depicted a hidden, exotic Middle East, and won him acclaim both in Israel and across the world. Gutman was also a celebrated children’s author and illustrator, even winning the Israel Prize for Children’s Literature. His work is displayed in the eponymous Gutman Museum in Tel Aviv.
