The Israel Museum teamed up with Swatch to create a limited edition watch that celebrates the Museum’s 50th anniversary. This is the first time that Swatch has created a watch for Israel, and only 1,000 were produced, making this a collector’s item.  Fewer than 500 watches are still available.

The Israel Museum Swatch features a transparent face which displays the multi-colored gears inside. The Museum’s brightly-colored anniversary polka dots are scattered along the translucent band and the Museum’s 50th Anniversary logo appears on the top of the band. The Swatch is beautifully packaged in a white box decorated with the Museum’s anniversary polka dots and logo.

The polka dot motif was inspired by a pair of cufflinks that Tina Davis bought for her husband, James Snyder, Director of the Israel Museum. The design is based on a pair of Georg Jensen cufflinks that featured a confetti design created in 1965, the year the Museum opened. The polka dots were incorporated into the watch design, the Museum and the shop, and became a celebratory sign of the anniversary.

The Israel Museum, Jerusalem is among the world's most highly rated encyclopedic museums. It holds the biggest collection of ancient Israel and Bible Lands antiquities on the planet, and is home to groundbreaking archaeological discoveries such as the Dead Sea Scrolls. The museum creates replicas and adaptations of Jewish and Israeli artifacts from around the world; these rare pieces make wonderful gifts.
