Painted in glowing colors, this magnificent work of art shows the love and sense of wonderment the artist feels when looking at this most holy of sites. Surrounded by Jerusalem's lush green foliage, the Western Wall and its surrounding buildings and plaza have been painted in delicate shades of purple, blue and cream. These colors are mirrored in the cloudy sky, adding an ethereal, mystical quality to the piece. The intricate detail and coloring means this evocative masterpiece is one that will delight you time and time again, while transporting you to the peaceful serenity of the Wall.
Born in December 1944 in the USSR, Zina Roitman is a renowned Israeli artist best known for her aquarelle paintings and serigraphs (silk prints). Moldavian-born Roitman studied classical art at the Art Academy of Kishinev before immigrating to Israel, and was influenced by a broad range of contemporary artists ranging from Picasso, Matisse, Vasarely, Chagall and various Japanese artists. Her distinctive style includes a remarkable affinity for watercolors and the graphic-oriented work associated with printing, and has earned international acclaim. Roitman’s love of Israel and her delight in its unique landscapes are evident in her work, which has been displayed in galleries across Israel, and in Maryland, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
