Help turn your house into a home with this fabulous lithograph from the Land of Israel. A print of renowned Israeli artist Nahum Gutman's painting "The Family," this work portrays an idyllic family scene, with a mother and father standing on both sides of a young girl, as a breeze enters the home through the open window and a pair of luxurious Shabbat candlesticks are set on a nearby table. With its brilliant use of colors and skilled artistic representation of an early 20th century Jewish family, this lithograph is a terrific way of displaying your refined artistic taste.
Nahum Gutman was born in Romania and immigrated to Israel in 1905, where he began studying art at Bezalel in Jerusalem. He soon rebelled against the traditional teaching methods, and ploughed ahead alone to create his own distinctive style. His art depicted a hidden, exotic Middle East, and won him acclaim both in Israel and across the world. Gutman was also a celebrated children’s author and illustrator, even winning the Israel Prize for Children’s Literature. His work is displayed in the eponymous Gutman Museum in Tel Aviv.
