Leonid Balaklav is a Jerusalem-based artist whose work has earned him notable recognition throughout the last thirty years including the Jerusalem Prize for Painting and Sculpture in 1985, The Gold Medal at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 1987, the Israel Discount Prize for Artists from the Israel Museum in 2002, and the Haim Schiff for Figurative and Realistic Art from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art in 2015.

Born in 1956 in Beltze (in the former USSR), Leonid graduated from the Kiev School of Art in 1973, the Art Institute in Odessa in 1974, and made Aliyah to Israel in 1990. Today he lives and works in Jerusalem and draws inspiration for his work from the light, sanctity and distinctiveness of this holy city, with a particular focus on still life art. His works have been exhibited in galleries and private collections both in Israel and around the world, and are owned by renowned worldwide collectors among them; Ronald Lauder, Amos Shoken, and Sheldon Adelson.
