The pendant is in the form of a large ornate hamsa containing the most detailed filigree pattern. The raised letters on the front spell out one of the Kabbalistic names of God: Aleph - Lamed - Dalet; it is said to offer the wearer protection against the evil eye. Around this is engraved by hand a Biblical verse with a similar function: Ben Porat Yosef, Ben Porat Alei Ayin ("A fruitful son is Yosef (Joseph), a fruitful son by a spring.") (Genesis 49:22).
The back of the pendant is inscribed by hand with an ancient Kabbalistic rendering of the Priestly Blessing (Numbers 6:24-27). The letters of the words have been rearranged to spell out secret and arcane holy Kabbalistic names that are said to have protective powers. Also hand engraved is the first letter of each word of Ana Bekoach, a very deep and mysterious spiritual poem written millenia ago. These letters have been arranged to spell out several of God's holy names.
This pendant is suitable for a man or woman.
