It is composed of a sword wrapped in an olive branch at the center of a Star of David, and the emblem rests on a brick-like background that is reminiscent of the Kotel (Western Wall). Above the emblem is a small banner that reads “Tzvah HaHaganah le’Yisrael” (Israel Defense Forces). On the other side of the band, the map of Israel is displayed. Above it reads the year 1948, and in the middle of the map, there is a Star of David which is perfectly centered with the lined background that together forms the Israeli flag. The bottom of the map, and beneath the flag, is another representation of the Western Wall.
