Hand-painted Wood

Height of cup: 5.7" / 14.5 cm

Diameter of plate: 4.5" / 11.4 cm

As this piece is covered with three layers of lacquer, it is totally functional and waterproof and may be hand-washed.

The design of this beautiful cup was hand-painted with a brush using acrylic colors and then lacquered. Vivid and harmonious colors characterize the hand-painted wood, which features a creative Song of the Sea decorative motif, while "Miriam" appears in large Hebrew letters, a reference to Miriam the prophetess.

Please note: These cups do not hold the requisite 112ml (3.8fl.oz.) for Kiddush according to Jewish law.

Israel’s most popular artist Yair Emanuel studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, and now lives and works in Jerusalem. He creates stunning Judaica and art from a range of media, ranging from hand-painted silk and hand-sewn embroidery to brightly painted wood and muted metals. Emanuel’s work is characterized by the unique combination of traditional Jewish motifs and modern design and technique.
