According to the triple hallmarks stamped on the base of the original, the cup can be dated to the years 1787-1790, from the city of Nuremberg. It was made by the master silversmith Johann Friedrich Ehe, who created other works of Jewish ceremonial art for the expanding German-Jewish community in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
This item comes with a certificate of authenticity of the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Enclosed is a small description of its historical background in English and Hebrew.
