This striking work of art is guaranteed to be an immediate talking point in your home! The two large blue tablets are reminiscent of the 10 Commandments (which, according to some, featured gold lettering on sapphire tablets), and feature a textured finish and real gold embellishments. The smaller brown and white tablets are filled with lines of calligraphic texts in black ink similar to that found in Torah scrolls, and striking dark graphics.
Born to a Rabbinic family in 1909, Moshe Castel was accepted into the Bezalel Art School aged just 13. After four years he moved to Paris, where he worked and studied for 13 years before returning to Israel and the mystical holy city of Safed in Northern Israel. His vibrant work uses unusual media to create exceptional pieces depicting Bible stories, Sephardic culture and life in Israel. His work is displayed in several prominent Israeli institutions, including the Knesset (Israel’s parliament), the Rockrfeller Center in New York, and the President’s home in Jerusalem.
