Perfectly layered and contained within this cylindrical glass vial is soil from the different regions in the Land of Israel that shows off its diverse topography. There are four layers: The first is land from the Galilee to the bank of the Jordan River, the second is soil from the City of David and Jerusalem region, the third is soil from the Hebron and Judean Mountains area, and the fourth is land from the Negev region. The soil is collected by the artists who then sift and grind it by hand. Each area of land has a historical and biblical connection. The Jordan River is the northernmost border of the Land of Israel that also signifies the land that God gave to the Jews. Jerusalem is the religious and political capital of the State of Israel and the Jewish people. Hebron is where King David first ruled, and where Me’arat Hamachpela (the Cave of the Patriarchs) is. The Negev has to do with Avraham, who dwelled in Be'Er Sheva, and it was also part of the kingdom of King Solomon.

Each necklace includes an information packet about the artists.

Available with a sterling silver chain or a black silicone cord.
