The top hamsa features a beautiful gemstone and the verse Ben Porat Yosef, Ben Porat Alei Ayin ("A fruitful son is Yosef (Joseph), a fruitful son by a spring.") (Genesis 49:22). This verse is said to protect from the evil eye.

The next four hamsas contain the four verses of the Priestly Blessing, Yevarechecha Hashem Veyishmerecha, Yaer Hashem Panav Elecha Vichuneka, Yisa Hashem Panav Elecha Veyasem Lecha Shalom.
