This fantastically bright Hamsa has been hand-painted in vibrant colors to depict the seven species that are native to the Land of Israel. It's freestanding; you can place it anywhere to enjoy its unique beauty!

The Hamsa is an ancient Middle Eastern symbol for protection against the Evil Eye.

The Seven Species are first mentioned in Deuteronomy, and played a significant role in the diet and traditions of ancient Israelites. They include two grains and seven fruits: wheat, barley, pomegranates, figs, dates, olives and grapes. The grains were turned to flour and formed the mainstay of their diet; the fruits could be eaten fresh, dried for the winter, turned into wine and boiled down to create thick syrups used for sweetening other foods.

Israel's favorite artist Yair Emanuel studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, and now lives and works in Jerusalem. He creates stunning Judaica and art from a range of media, ranging from hand-painted silk and hand-sewn embroidery to brightly painted wood and muted metals. Emanuel's work is characterized by the unique combination of traditional Jewish motifs and modern design and technique. His pieces are vibrantly colored and vividly bright, and are sure to add sparkle and style to any room!
