The Wine Recanati Merlot is a medium bodied dry wine with a brilliant garnet color. Its robust fruity aroma of plum jam, fresh red berries, and pomegranate is accented by touches of caramel, cloves and vanilla.
Harvest In mid September, fully ripe Merlot grapes are hand harvested. The crushed grapes are chilled and then "cold macerate" for two days prior to fermentation which preserves the rich fruity character of the cepage. After gentle pressing the Merlot is racked into French and American oak barrels, where it ages for eight months prior to bottling. Fruity upon release, the wine will gain subtlety with 2-3 years of aging.
Serving Serve room temperature or briefly chilled to accompany grilled meat or fowl, pasta or pizza, or fish such as salmon and tuna.
