Size: 33cm x 35cm / 13” x 13.8”
Pure and simple, this delicate sheep's head drawing by renowned Israeli artist Menashe Kadishman will make a pretty addition to any room. Sketched in greenish-grey hues, this doe-eyed sheep is surrounded by blurred grey lines and enhanced by a smattering of vivid color at the bottom of the image.
Menashe Kadishman (August 1932 – May 2015) was an Israeli painter and sculptor who won acclaim for his broad portfolio and eclectic style, and is best known for metallic sculptures and colorful sheep paintings. He trained under Israeli sculptors Moshe Sternschuss and Rudi Lehmann before moving to London, where he studied at several prestigious academies under renowned artists. Inspired by the kibbutz work of his youth, Kadishman’s most popular motif is brightly colored sheep’s faces. He won an impressive collection of awards, and exhibited his work across the world for six decades. Kadishman’s works are on public display at galleries across the globe, including several locations in the United States, Costa Rica, Germany, the Netherlands and Japan – and of course in Israel, where a large scale installation is featured at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum.
