Yair Emanuel Embroidered Raw Silk Tallit - Pomegranates

We are proud to present an exciting line of Artistic Judaica by Yair Emanuel.

This fabulous tallit is made of hand woven raw silk, which is appliqued with embroidery forming a beautiful pomegranates decorative motif, while the atara is embroidered with the words of the traditional blessing said over the wearing of the tallit: Asher kidishanu bemitzvotav vitzivanu lehitatef batzizit. In addition, each corner is emboidered with a name of one of the Jewish matriarchs: Sara, Rifka, Rachel and Leah.

A classic Jewish decorative motif, the pomegranate has been grown for thousands of years in the Mediterranean region, and is referenced throughout the Bible as one of the 7 species native to the Land of Israel. In addition, the pomegranate has some of the deepest and richest symbolism in Judaism as its many seeds symbolize the abundance of righteousness, prosperity and wisdom.

Artist Yair Emanuel, a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, lives and works in Jerusalem.  Vivid and harmonious colors as well as a mixture of the old and the new characterize Emanuel's work, which is designed and crafted in his Jerusalem studio.  The principal techniques utilized encompass painting on silk, hand-embroidery, raw-silk appliqué and painting on wood.
