“Ani LeDodi VeDodi Li” (אני לדודי ודודי לי) is a verse (6:3) from the biblical book Shir HaShirim, or Song of Songs, a book of poetic love dialogue attributed to King Solomon.
The phrase is most commonly translated as “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine,” though you may also encounter renderings such as “I am to my beloved, as my beloved is to me.” Each version preserves the same core idea of mutual belonging and devotion.
Whether read as sacred allegory, love poetry, or both, Shir HaShirim occupies a unique place within the Hebrew Bible, (Tanakh) unlike any other biblical book in tone or voice.

One of the most fun synagogue traditions is bringing groggers for the reading of Megillat Ester! "Grogger" is the Yiddish word for noisemaker (also called ra'ashan in Hebrew), and it certainly lives up to its name. Whenever the evil Haman's name is read from the Megillah, it is tradition to drown out his name by waving your grogger, stomping your feet, booing, or shaking a tambourine. A fun and quirky Purim tradition, drowning out Haman's name with groggers and tambourines makes the Megillah reading an interactive and enjoyable experience for the whole family.
